JOIN US FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH DAY | MAY 17TH 2024

The Union City, Corry Area & Fort LeBoeuf School Districts are coming together to end the Stigma!

This collaboration between districts will be bringing students together on May 17th to participate in Mental Health Awareness Day. Elementary aged students will gather at the UCASD Football field throughout the morning in shifts at the UC District Campus. Secondary students will begin gathering at the conclusion of the elementary sessions. There will be an array of fun activities that focus on good mental health practices, and information on avenues for support available.

After school the event will continue, but we will also invite our communities to attend as well. There will be food trucks on campus for those that want to purchase a bite to eat, vendors providing information on good mental health, areas of support available for those that so choose, concerts with headliner Chris Higbee, and an eco-friendly lantern release for those that want to honor the memory of a loved one. The evening will culminate with fireworks.

Major contributors to date that are helping to make this possible are Hayden R. Hitchcock Foundation & Lake Erie Contractors LLC.

Goals:

  1. Educate students about available mental health as well as coping mechanisms for dealing with mental health issues
  2. Bring communities together to show our students it is OK to acknowledge Mental Health Topics
  3. Create a fun atmosphere for students and the communities to come together
  4. Give families that have suffered a loss from mental health the opportunity to heal (especially during our lantern release).
  5. Bring community awarness for the need to support mental health!
